California's Secretary of State Releases the List of Certified Write-In Candidates

The Secretary of State has posted the list of 28 write-in candidates on his web site.  These names can be seen here: http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/2003_cert_write-in.pdf.  Mr. Gastrich is, of course, one of them.

"I hope each polling location follows the rules and has the list of write-in candidates," said Jason.  "I've been certified and I'm just as serious as the ballot candidates; if not more so."

Click here to hear Barbara from San Diego's Registrar of Voters.  After verifying the final signature, she called Mr. Gastrich to tell him the good news about his certification.

"Now, this is democracy.  When a person can run for office, without paying anything, it is a wonderful thing," exclaimed Jason.

The write-in candidates were required to get 65 nomination signatures, from members affiliated with their political party, by September 23rd.  They had to file financial statements, but they were not required to pay the $3500 filing fee.
