Mr. Gastrich Wishes Peter Ueberroth Well
September 9, 2003
Earlier today, Peter Ueberroth withdrew from the race for California's Governor. His low poll numbers and pending expenses were two, likely reasons for his withdrawal.
"I wish Peter and his family well. He brought an interesting voice to the table," said Mr. Gastrich. "I'm a moderate Republican like Peter, so I'm hoping to have his constituents take a serious look at my platform, vision for the state, and moral foundation and vote for me."
Peter Ueberroth, a former commissioner of Major League Baseball and a planner of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, still hopes to engage in public service. "I feel the calling to enter public service, but I am going to have to find another way," he said.
After being asked about his intent to continue his campaign, Mr. Gastrich replied, "Absolutely! The next month of campaigning will be very exciting. There are a great number of people that will hear my message and discover my platform. I'm looking forward to reaching these people and encouraging them to make the best decision on October 7th."
Kind regards,
Gastrich for Governor, '03
