Mr. Gastrich Gives Exclusive Interview to RecallCandidates.com
August 22, 2003
RecallCandidates.com had the opportunity to interview Jason Gastrich on August 22nd, who will run as a 'write-in' candidate for the office of Governor in the upcoming special election. Jason has already made the airwaves on Los Angeles radio station KFI 640 and also appeared on the Fox News where he performed his newly released hit, "The Recall Song".
RecallCandidates.com (RC): What are your qualifications for the office of Governor?
Jason Gastrich (JG): I've been a public servant for many years as a Christian minister. I've spent countless hours with regular people; listening to them, talking to them, helping them, counseling them, etc. I have the gift of wisdom. I'm ready to choose wise counselors to discover the best ways to reduce and remove the budget deficit. I maintain Christian values; the same values that the founders of this great nation had.
RC: What makes you a unique candidate?
JG: I've signed "The No New Taxes Pledge." All of the candidates have seen this pledge and only a few have signed it; however, Arnold, Cruz, and Bill Simon have refused to sign it. I've promised to avoid raising taxes at all costs. I'm fully convinced that if a candidate is already planning on raising taxes, then they have no vision for the state. Raising taxes should be the very last resort and there are a number of things that must be done before raising taxes is even entertained.
RC: What do yo think about the various majority candidates like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Cruz Bustamante?
JG: Arnold is not a conservative. He plans to raise taxes and he describes himself as a "social liberal." He is pro-abortion, pro-gay agenda, and possibly worst of all, he is pro-immigrant. Illegal immigration is one of the most serious problems in California because it has drained the state's resources as it has spent billions of dollars on illegals. Arnold is an immigrant and obviously has no plan, stated or implied, that he plans on fixing the problem of illegal immigration that has driven the state further into debt. Cruz Bustamante has told the public that he will raise taxes by several billion dollars. Therefore, he has no plan or vision for the state. Cruz is just like and no better than Davis. He is a left winger with no desire to help the people. He is also controlled by special interests.
RC: How do you feel the process has been?
JG: The process has been good. I'm thankful for the many opportunities I've had to speak and share my vision for the state. There are many more engagements scheduled and I'm very excited about the chance to serve the people of the great state of California.
RC: What impact do you think it has that you're a 'write-in' ?
JG: With 135 ballot candidates, writing in "Jason Gastrich" should actually be easier than hunting down another name. However, I'm convinced that the fine, intelligent people of the great state of California will investigate each candidate's views and choose the best one. For several weeks, I've had all of my viewpoints clearly outlined on my web site. If you can't easily find what a candidate believes, then don't vote for them. They are obviously hiding something. Arnold, for instance, has three web pages on the internet: his main page, his page for donations, and a page about Prop 13. With all due respect, this is sad and deceptive. He needs to be frank about his beliefs and let people either accept or reject him on the merits of his foundational beliefs and vision for the state.
RC: What are your goals and expectations?
JG: My goal is to become the next Governor of California, so I can serve the people. My goal is also to fix the budget deficit and help California flourish, again. I expect this to be an uphill battle with many surprises and opportunities. I don't expect it to be easy. However, in the end, I'm convinced that the people of California are smart enough to investigate the candidates' beliefs and vision and make a good decision.
