The truth is a snapshot in time like a picture.

In an unprecedented and horrific event, two Honolulu Police Department officers were shot and killed in the line of duty. Number #49 and #50 in Hawaii state history. They were responding to a call and the suspect was mentally ill, stabbed somebody, shot them and set his house on fire causing it to burn six others as well. Two people are missing. I have never seen smoke rising from Diamond Head like it did when the firefighters couldn't put out the fires because gunshots were ringing out. If I still lived in Honolulu, I would have taken pictures of it.

There are a lot of lessons to be learned in this tragedy from the care of the mentally ill, affordable housing (he was fighting eviction), officer safety and effective gun laws. Reportedly he did not own a registered weapon.

Flags are flying at half-mast today.

President Trump isn't exactly the tax saviour that he purports to be. This graph shows the U.S. federal tax rate over time. It indicates that taxes were lower in the past and even last decade.

I saw this rainbow in Kahului today and it looked like it was raining on the opposite side in Wailuku. A plane landed under the rainbow as I took the picture. Click the picture for an even bigger rainbow.

I saw this light at about 3:30 this morning. I still have no idea what it was. I saw it from Kahului and it looked like it was between two hills upcountry (mauka). The moon was overhead and it wasn't a fire because it was steady and piercingly bright.

Do you remember when Green Day briefly retired? I bugged them on Twitter to continue. Guess it worked. They are one of the greats and one of my favorite bands. Epic live too.

CROWN HIM WITH MANY (ORGANIC) CROWNS

I used to just use a plastic coffee mug and a plastic coffee/tea strainer. In Miami, I added the big metal container to my repertoire for (usually) hot water. After I switched to a metal cup, I noticed coffee tasted better and after I switched to the metal strainer it tasted even better.

Yesterday I searched Spotify for songs about rain and as soon as I played Rain by the Cult ("here comes the rain") it started pouring in Kahului.

It rained a lot in Kahului, Maui today. In fact, the Hawaiian islands are being drenched by a winter storm right now.

Pacman has been one of my favorite games since childhood. This Pacman application is lots of fun and it's even free. Every time you get 20 points you can open a new maze. Sometimes they come fast and sometimes a maze is only 10 points.

I was used to playing Pacman on a joystick and eventually a controller. Now I swipe different directions to move Pacman and he goes! Maybe one day I will use my breath or mind.

I saw this partial rainbow in Kahului, Maui on January 8. It appeared in front of me as I was walking to the store. Click it for an even bigger picture.

Maui is expecting rain and strong winds for a few days. Today it's partly cloudy with sporadic showers. I was indoors when I saw part of this rainbow and I ran outside and noticed it was huge. Click on it for an even bigger picture.

Kahului Rainbow

Yesterday I crossed Dairy Rd. in Kahului and as I talked to my friend by the side of the road I noticed this beautiful rainbow behind him. It was only a partial rainbow though.

New Divide

I am a new Linkin Park fan and I was sad to see Chester go. I have a few of their songs in my #1 Spotify playlist. Their live ones are good too. I set my playlist to shuffle sometimes and sometimes I am fascinated with the time a song comes on.
